Dr. Ziedins is from Danville, CA, and has been a small animal veterinarian for over 20 years.
She holds a B.S. in Wildlife & Fisheries Conservation Biology from UC Davis, a Masters of
Public Health in Infectious Disease and Immunology from UC Berkeley, and graduated in 2002
with her DVM from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. What she enjoys most about her
profession is developing long-term relationships with patients and their families. She takes great
pride in helping mentor support staff and younger colleagues. Dr. Ziedins special interests
include soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine, dermatology and behavior. She hopes that her
advanced training in Fear Free handling will allow her patients to experience a less traumatic and
stressful visit to the veterinary hospital. She is Level 1 certified in Free Free techniques and is
currently working on Level 2.
Dr. Ziedins currently shares her home with her husband Ryan, their 3 dogs (a 10yr old Yorkie
named Tikka, a 7 year old Cesky Fousek named Aiden, and 3yr Labrador Retriever named
Meadow). They also have a senior rescue kitty (unknown age) named Sprinkles. In her free
time, Dr. Ziedins enjoys reading non-fiction books, taking afternoon naps, swimming at the local
gym, camping in the Sierra’s, gardening with native perennial plants, dog training, and bird
hunting. She is also the daughter of Latvian immigrants and is proud of her dual American-
Latvian heritage. Her last name translated into English means “little blossom” in Latvian.
