Dr. Carolina De La Garza grew up in a small border town in Mexico where she would care for strays alongside her grandfather and sister. It was there, at a very young age, that she developed a strong sense of respect and love for animals.
Dr. De La Garza attended the University of Texas – Pan American where she obtained her B.S. in Biology with minors in Spanish and French. She then enrolled at Texas A&M University – Kingsville where she graduated with her M.S. in Molecular Biology. Despite loving lab work and research, Dr. De La Garza felt her purpose in life was to continue helping animals. She proceeded to follow her passion and pursued a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. After vet school, Dr. De La Garza completed a certification through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) and became a certified veterinary acupuncturist (CVA). In the hopes to be able to offer additional treatment options, in conjunction to Western medicine, to improve the overall health of her patients.
In her spare time Dr. De La Garza enjoys spending time with her husband, Antonio, and their 5 rescued furbabies, traveling, spending time outdoors (hiking, camping, kayaking), riding her Peloton bike, reading, as well as trying new foods and wines.
Dr. De La Garza is also fluent in Spanish.
